Artists over the year

Over the year, we take inspiration from a range of artists who work in different ways. Children find an artist who looks like them or moves like they do. We hope they see themselves and are empowered to develop their own creativity.

This calendar shows the name and photo of the artists and the techniques we work with each month. In the Autumn Term the artists are Mark Rothko, Yayoi Kusam, Rana Begum, and Yinka Shonibare. The techniques are: colour mixing paint, mark making, playing with colour and light, sculpture, and collage. In the Spring term the artists are: Veronica Ryan, Giles Round, Althea McNish, and Cornelia Parker. The techniques are: textiles, sculpture , pattern making, mark making, and printing. In the Summer term the artists are: Alice Wilson, Christo & Jeanne-Claude, and Lubaina Himid. The techniques are sculpture , transient art , mark making, and colour mixing.
